A £500k performance by Beyoncé was reportedly declined by the Brits.
Beyonce was a big winner at the BRIT Awards held in London on Saturday, even though she was not present at the star-studded event. The 41-year-old singer took home two awards, the International Artist of the Year and International Song of the Year for “Break My Soul.” In pre-recorded video messages, Beyonce thanked her fans for their support and recognition.
She expressed her gratitude for the awards, saying, “Thank you very much for this incredible recognition. I would like to thank all my friends in Britain for their continued support over the years.” Beyonce also hinted at her upcoming Renaissance World Tour, saying, “The Renaissance begins. I’ll see you all on tour. Thank you very much for this honor.”
The reason for Beyonce’s absence from the BRIT Awards has been a topic of speculation, with reports suggesting that the event organizers could not justify paying the requested £500,000 for her performance and hosting of her entourage of around 40 people. It is said that Beyonce’s team wanted several suites at the Corinthia Hotel in central London and supplies for the entire entourage to put on their part of the show, which would have added up to a significant sum.
However, despite not attending the BRIT Awards, Beyonce has been making headlines for her upcoming world tour, the Renaissance 2023, which marks six years since her last Formation World Tour. The tour, which will kick off in Europe in May and conclude in North America in September, will feature songs from her seventh studio album, including the hit song “Break My Soul.”
The excitement for the Renaissance 2023 tour has been palpable, with hundreds of thousands of fans eagerly waiting for general release tickets to go on sale. Ticket prices for the tour range from £56 for a seated ticket to £106, while VIP packages can go up to £2,400.
Beyonce has solidified her status as a musical icon and has a long list of achievements to her name. She is the most awarded artist in Grammy history, having won Best R&B Song, Best Dance/Electronic Recording, Best Dance/Electronic Album, and Best Traditional R&B Performance for Renaissance. In addition to her musical career, Beyonce is also known for her philanthropic work through her BeyGOOD initiative, which she founded in 2013 to support people and programs around the world.
