Campaign DG of Atiku’s vehicle attacked by gunmen in Rivers state.
Dr. Abiye Sekibo, Director General of the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Council in Rivers State, narrowly escaped an attack on Thursday, February 9th, when gunmen opened fire on his vehicle. The incident took place in Rainbow town in Port Harcourt, the state capital, as Dr. Sekibo was on his way to inspect the venue of a PDP presidential rally.
According to Dr. Sekibo’s account, the attackers were dressed in police uniform and opened fire on his bulletproof SUV. He reported that this attack took place after the rally’s venue had been set on fire, and as he and his team approached the site to assess the damage. He stated that he recognized the attackers as police officers as they were driving Hilux vehicles with police markings.
This incident has raised serious concerns about the security situation in Rivers State and the safety of political campaign activities.
