Germany lottery stakes rise to €8.2bn in 2023
In a positive development for charitable causes, The German Lotto and Toto block, representing 16 state lottery companies, reported a 2.9% increase in revenue, directing approximately €3.28 billion toward various charitable initiatives. This rise translates to an average of €9 million per day supporting welfare, sports, art, culture, monument preservation, and environmental protection.
The digitalization of lottery games has played a significant role in achieving this growth, with the online offering ensuring that the 16 state lottery companies fully fulfill their channelling mandate on the internet. Sven Osthoff, managing director of LOTTO Lower Saxony, emphasized the sustainability of the lottery principle oriented towards the common good through digital advancements.
