Leicester school assault viral video prompts police investigation
Leicestershire Police are actively engaged in the investigation of a distressing incident involving a student at Judgemeadow Community College in Evington, Leicester. The assaults, which transpired on school premises, were reported to authorities on Tuesday, January 9. While footage depicting the violent encounters has surfaced online, the police have cautioned against circulating these videos or engaging in speculative discussions about the individuals involved.
The videos, which LeicestershireLive has chosen not to publish, depict a 15-year-old student enduring a severe physical confrontation. The police have confirmed that the incidents resulted in minor facial injuries for the young person. Despite the alarming nature of the footage, authorities have determined that the acts do not qualify as a hate crime.
In response to the incident, the police have collaborated with the educational institution to unravel the events leading to the assaults. The perpetrators have been identified, and authorities are in the process of engaging with them and their guardians to address the matter appropriately.
Expressing shock and condemnation, Jason Smith, the principal of Judgemeadow Community College, emphasized that the actions of a minority of students do not reflect the values of the broader school community. Smith assured that the school is taking measures to support the affected pupil and their family and emphasized that the attackers will face the most severe sanctions available.
