Man hangs himself on mango tree after killing his wife
in Cheberen, Mogotio, Baringo County, Kenya, a man named Kirwa Kipngetich was discovered hanging from a mango tree after allegedly committing a heinous crime—killing his wife. The shocking discovery was made by a neighbor who had ventured out to tend to his farm on Tuesday morning, June 20, 2023, at approximately 9 am.
According to Cheberen Chief Sammy Kandie, the deceased had reportedly murdered his wife, Leolinda Jeruto, the previous night before the chilling discovery. In a desperate attempt to escape an enraged crowd, Kipngetich fled into a nearby bush after committing the horrendous act. Reports suggest that he inflicted fatal stab wounds upon his wife, who worked as a JSS teacher at Tian Primary School in Cheberen, Mogotio, using a knife.
A neighbor who witnessed the aftermath of the incident shared her account, stating that she heard a thud and immediately rushed to investigate. To her horror, she witnessed Kipngetich emerging from the house with a blood-stained knife before hastily disappearing into the dense foliage of the nearby bush.
Based on the available information, it is suspected that deep-rooted domestic differences may have been the cause of this dreadful ordeal. The couple, who had two children, had reportedly been experiencing ongoing issues that had led to their estrangement for a significant period of time. Their strained relationship seemingly reached a breaking point, leading to this tragic outcome.
