Miraculous Escape: Tourist’s Bungee Cord Snaps from 10-Story Jump in Thailand, but He Survives the Fall
A Hong Kong tourist has miraculously survived a bungee jump after the cord snapped while he was plunging down from a 10-story-high platform in Pattaya, Thailand. The heart-stopping incident, which occurred in January, went viral on March 22 after the 39-year-old man, identified only as Mike, shared his story.
Mike had gone to the Changthai Thappraya Safari and Adventure Park with his friends, hoping to try out the shooting range. But after his friends dared him to do a bungee jump, he decided to give it a try. Moments after he took the leap of faith, the bungee cord snapped, sending him crashing into the water below.
Despite being covered in bruises, Mike managed to resurface and swim to safety, despite his feet being tied together by the lower half of the snapped bungee cord. He credits his survival to the fact that the jump was made over a body of water, which cushioned his fall.

Mike’s ordeal underscores the importance of safety precautions in such extreme sports. Nithit Intim, founder of the Changthai Thappraya Safari and Adventure Park, said that Mike had signed a liability waiver before making the jump, and that the park had refunded the cost of his jump and paid for x-ray and ultrasound scans in Thailand. He also offered to pay any direct medical expenses in Hong Kong if receipts were provided.
Bungee jumping is a popular tourist activity in Thailand, and many adventure parks and operators offer the activity to visitors. However, this incident serves as a reminder that thrill-seeking activities can be dangerous and that safety should always be the top priority.
