Pervert police officer who secretly filmed woman undressing is jailed
Kieran Ball, a former police officer with the British Transport Police (BTP) in Coventry, has been sentenced to imprisonment for his disturbing actions. The 30-year-old officer was found guilty of voyeurism after he secretly filmed a woman undressing before taking a shower. The incident took place at a residential address where Ball had propped up his iPad on the bathroom windowsill.
On June 10, 2021, the victim discovered the iPad while she was about to shower. To her horror, she realized that it had been recording her for nearly six minutes, including the moments when she was undressing. Distressed and disturbed by the invasion of her privacy, she promptly captured a video of the iPad using her mobile phone and reported the incident to the authorities.
Warwickshire Police took swift action and seized Ball’s mobile devices, while the British Transport Police promptly suspended him from duty. However, despite the evidence against him, Ball adamantly denied any wrongdoing, claiming that he had used the iPad for personal gratification rather than voyeurism, as accused by fellow officers.
Following a trial at Leamington Crown Court in April, the jury found Ball guilty of voyeurism. In May, an accelerated misconduct hearing took place, resulting in his dismissal from the force. Police officials deemed Ball’s actions to be gross misconduct, emphasizing the severity of his breach of trust.

During his sentencing on Friday, Ball received a custodial sentence of 12 months. The court also imposed a restraining order, prohibiting him from contacting the victim or approaching within 100 meters of her residence. Furthermore, the judge ruled that Ball must be registered as a sex offender for the next ten years, highlighting the gravity of his offense.
Deputy Chief Constable Alistair Sutherland expressed his condemnation of Ball’s actions, emphasizing that they violated a woman’s right to privacy within the confines of her own home. He stated that Ball’s behavior had undermined the diligent work of the thousands of BTP officers who strive to protect women and girls, both in their professional duties and personal lives.
DCC Sutherland clarified that the police refrained from taking disciplinary action against Ball during the investigation to ensure it did not prejudice the ongoing criminal proceedings. He emphasized that securing justice for the victim was of paramount importance to the police force. DCC Sutherland concluded by affirming that Ball’s actions were entirely contradictory to the values upheld by the BTP, and there was no place in the force for individuals who engage in such misconduct.
