Thai man arrested after stalking and kidnapping married woman
In a dramatic turn of events, the local police in Chon Buri province successfully rescued a 31-year-old Thai woman from the clutches of a besotted man named Kong, who, driven by unrequited love, had kidnapped her. The ordeal began when the woman’s 39-year-old husband filed a missing person’s report at Ban Pho Police Station on January 5, suspecting that Kong, a longtime pursuer, was behind the disappearance.
The distressed husband revealed that Kong had been relentlessly pursuing his wife for years, despite her clear rejection of his advances. This persistence escalated to the point where Kong, armed with a gun, abducted the woman as she disembarked from her usual baht bus near her workplace. A courageous colleague attempted to intervene, but the dire situation forced her to retreat as Kong menacingly brandished his firearm.
The police, acting swiftly, utilized CCTV footage to trace the victim’s usual commute route. This led them to spot the ominous encounter between Kong and the woman. With the help of technology, officers tracked Kong’s mobile signal, determining his course towards Chon Buri province. Their efforts culminated in a decisive raid on a hotel in the Koh Chan district, where Kong was apprehended after a brief but intense exchange of gunfire.

Terrifyingly, the victim later revealed that Kong had threatened to not only harm her but also her friend during the journey from Chachoengsao to Chon Buri, instilling fear for her life and the safety of her family.
The legal ramifications for Kong are substantial. Initial charges include offenses under Section 392 of the Criminal Law, involving causing fear or fright to another person through threats, with a penalty of imprisonment up to one month, a fine of up to 10,000 baht, or both. Additionally, Section 310 of the Criminal Law, which pertains to restraining or confining another person or depriving them of liberty, carries a penalty of imprisonment up to three years, a fine of up to 60,000 baht, or both.
Further charges related to Kong’s possession and use of a firearm are pending, underscoring the severity of the incident. Authorities are expected to unveil additional details regarding these charges as the legal proceedings progress. The victim, having escaped the clutches of her captor, now faces the arduous task of recovering from the traumatic experience, with concerns lingering about potential future threats from Kong.
