Disturbing developments have emerged as bandits operating in the Paikoro Local Government Area of Niger State have released a chilling video showcasing the plight of villagers who were kidnapped from Kafin Koro and Kwagana wards. These innocent individuals, along with a former APC ward chairman, were abducted on May 10, 2023, with the total number of captives exceeding 50. Tragically, only 19 of them were fortunate enough to secure their release after reportedly paying varying sums as ransom.

The recently circulated video depicts a harrowing scene in which the victims, visibly distraught and overwhelmed, can be seen crying and pleading for mercy. The bandits, callously firing warning shots dangerously close to their feet, demonstrate their utter disregard for the lives and well-being of those in their captivity.

Reports indicate that the ruthless terrorists have imposed a two-day ultimatum upon the families of the remaining victims, demanding exorbitant ransoms under threat of dire consequences. To emphasize their seriousness, the bandits ruthlessly executed a woman, leaving no doubt about their willingness to carry out their deadly intentions. The chilling ultimatum leaves families in a state of anguish and desperation, as they scramble to gather the required funds within the given timeframe.

In a small glimmer of hope amidst this dark situation, three female victims were able to secure their freedom on Tuesday, June 6, following the payment of the demanded ransom. However, the fate of the others still held captive hangs precariously in the balance, as their loved ones anxiously navigate the intricate web of negotiations with the merciless bandits.
