Young Make-Up Artist Tragically Killed in Targeted Shooting, Allegedly Aimed at Male Companion

Tragedy struck in Sheffield, Westmoreland, Jamaica on the evening of March 19, 2023, as 23-year-old makeup artist Moesha Heath, also known as ‘Momo’, was fatally shot outside her house. According to reports from the Jamaica Observer, Heath and a male companion arrived at their residence around 5:50 pm when they were approached by three men from the rear of the house.

Eyewitnesses stated that one of the gunmen called out to the male companion and ordered him not to move, before the attackers opened fire on both Heath and her companion. The victims attempted to flee in different directions, but Heath was struck by multiple gunshots and fell to the ground near the entrance of her home.

Her male companion was fortunately unharmed and immediately called the police for assistance. Upon arrival, law enforcement officers found Heath lying on her back with gunshot wounds to her head and upper body. She was quickly rushed to the Savanna-la-Mar Public General Hospital for treatment, but tragically succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.

At present, the motive for the targeted shooting remains unclear, and police investigations are ongoing to determine the identity of the assailants and their motive for the attack. The sudden and senseless death of Moesha Heath has left her family, friends, and community in shock and mourning, and her tragic loss serves as a grim reminder of the ongoing issue of violence and crime in Jamaica.
